Guidelines for use:
Begin each meeting with a Spiritual Enrichment. Plan on fifteen minutes minimum, including discussion time.

Print out the sheets (pages are print ready), photocopy and have them available for people to read before the meeting begins. Also have copies of the Trisagion Prayers available. Allow your members to take the Enrichment home but collect the prayer sheets to reuse at your next meeting.

Have your parish priest read the Prayer and then go on to read the Inspiration. Your priest may choose to read it out loud, have someone else read it or have everyone read silently to herself. If your priest cannot be present at your meetings, ask for his blessings to conduct the program by yourselves.

Use the Reflection questions to start a short discussion. Your priest, if present, is your facilitator and will keep the group focused on the topic and related ideas. Members may need, from time to time, to be reminded of some helpful hints that will allow for a more inspiring and fruitful discussion:

  • Try to make your comments edifying and pleasing to Christ
  • Be aware of avoiding long responses so more people have an opportunity to participate
  • Be patient. If enthusiastic dialogue does not flow at first, the Holy Spirit is present at your gatherings and will guide all things to the Glory of God.

The Philoptochos Spiritual Enrichment Series are compiled by Presbytera Christine Salzman.
